What do we do? We teach medical therapeutic yoga, which is the practice of yoga as medicine in rehabilitation and wellness by licensed healthcare professionals, We work on whatever your goals may be, such as improve your fitness level, flexibility, balance or strength. A treatment session may include physical therapy techniques, medical therapeutic yoga, neuromuscular re-education, therapeutic exercise and/or manual therapy.
How do the individual sessions work? We come to your house or a mutually agreed upon spot and offer 60 minute one-on-one sessions with a physical therapist who will guide you through a program designed specifically for you, using the biopsychosocial model. Sometimes people may just need one session and leave with recommendations to improve their health and a personalized exercise program. Other times people may need or want 2-3 sessions a week to achieve their goals. This is not "cookie cutter" physical therapy. Everyone is different, therefore every session is tailored specfically to the client.
Do I need a home gym to participate? No. We provide the equipment. All you need is space for a yoga mat.
Do you teach group classes? We teach small group yoga therapy sessions to enhance the safety of your yoga practice through proper alignment and breathing techniques. Katie also teaches family yoga sessions and can help incorporate family wellness techniques into your busy life to enhance the health of your whole family. Katie also teaches group yoga and meditation classes in schools and churches for children of all ages.
What are common conditions you treat? Everyone has injuries. We help people improve their fitness level safely without causing further injury. Common injuries are back pain, neck pain, headaches, sprains, strains, brain injuries, post-surgery, post- partum issues, chronic pain and tightness, sports injuries, total joint replacements, upper and lower extremity injuries and neuromuscular diseases. We treat patients of all ages, primarily adults.
How many sessions do I need? Everyone's body (and mind!) are different so that will be something you will decide upon together. This is concierge physical therapy so your physical therapist will be available for questions and follow up after your session. We genuinely care for our patients and want the very best for them.
